Progress and Innovation, the ways to the future and the way of the KULI Hebezeuge – Helmut Kempkes GmbH
On Tuesday, November 5th, 2019, in the German Tool Museum, our family business KULI Hebezeuge – Helmut Kempkes GmbH has been awarded with the Innovation prize by the well-known Förderverein MannesmannHaus.
KULI is a manufacturer of industrial cranes with hoisting capacities of up to 200 tons and spans of up to 40 meters and more, which are used all over the world. It doesn’t matter if they’re needed in the “Kö” in Düsseldorf, the Caribbean islands or even in the Antarctic – KULI “gets things moving” globally.
However this wasn’t the deciding factor for the Jury to judge, that KULI should win against numerous other competing enterprises. What convinced them instead were two recent developments that were deserving of the innovation prize.
One of them is a crane with an Energy Recuperation System. Energy, which is needed in lifting processes will be recuperated when lowering the load and whilst brake applications. The energy gained this way can be led back to the grid without any programming of equipment. This lowers the crane’s energy consumption and CO2 emissions, which directly leads to cost savings for the customer. This technology was first presented at the Bauma exhibition in Munich in April 2019 and is now available for all frequency-controlled crane movements.
The second innovation is the intelligent crane system which, embedded into the control systems, is able to exchange information as part of a network.
Dr. Oliver Kempkes, CEO of KULI and his father and predecessor Heinz Helmut Kempkes, proudly received the awarding medal and the certificate from the representative of the MannesmannHaus, Prof. Dr. Horst A. Wessel and the Lord Mayor of Remscheid, Burkhard Mast-Weisz.
